PRESS: Amazon to offer cloud services in Russia in team with Mail.ru
MOSCOW, Jul 6 (PRIME) -- The world’s largest cloud services provider Amazon Web Services (AWS), a part of e-commerce behemoth Amazon, has agreed to fully enter the Russian market in partnership with local tech giant Mail.ru Group, and the companies will offer clients single access to cloud services and solutions, business daily Kommersant reported on Monday.
The decision will allow Amazon to follow Russia’s law and keep personal data of Russians in the country, while they have been stored in Germany so far, the daily said.
Mail.ru Group Solutions, a part of Mail.ru Group, and AWS are launching on the Russian market a multi-cloud, cloud infrastructure built on solutions of different suppliers, which will allow clients to get access to services of the two companies, a Mail.ru Group representative told the newspaper.
Revenue will be shared between the partners in accordance with consumption of solutions of each of the platforms.
Mail.ru Group explained the cooperation of the Russian and the U.S. cloud platforms by geographical and legislative reasons.
